BLIND DATE: Katy x Genevieve

I had been going back and forth all of April, trying to figure out how I wanted to celebrate hitting 5 years in business. I knew I wanted to do something different, something that pushed me creatively and connected people in a way that has always been at the core of my work. I’ve always loved the idea of blind date photoshoots, so I finally told myself… why not just take the leap and try it?

Within two weeks of putting the idea out there, I had over 100 applications. And I’m not kidding when I say narrowing it down was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. There were so many incredible people, so many potential matches that genuinely could have worked. But when I came across Katy and Genevieve, I immediately knew. It was one of those gut feelings I couldn’t ignore. They just felt right.
Katy brings this fun, bubbly energy that’s balanced with a really grounded and steady presence. She’s the kind of person who makes people feel safe and supported just by being herself. Then there’s Genny, who brings this warm, creative, slightly shy but incredibly witty energy that slowly unfolds in the best way. On paper, they aligned so naturally, but in person, it was even better to watch.

We chose to do their session at Pindustry, and honestly… it was the perfect spot. None of us had been there before, which made it even more fun. We got to explore the arcade games, wander around, and end the session up on the rooftop bar. It gave us so many different environments to play with, and it kept the energy light, interactive, and natural throughout. That’s one of the biggest things I wanted with these sessions, for it not to feel staged or forced. I wanted real reactions, real laughs, real moments. With Katy and Genny, that came so easily. There were moments where they were just talking, laughing, and figuring each other out, and you could feel how genuine it all was.
What happened after the session? I honestly don’t know. And truthfully, I think that’s my favorite part. That story belongs to them now. Whether it turned into something more or simply stayed as a really fun, meaningful experience, it’s theirs to carry forward. What I do know is that I couldn’t have asked for a better pair to kick off my very first blind date photoshoot. They trusted me, leaned into the experience, and made it something really special. Katy and Genny, thank you for being part of this with me. I’ll always be rooting for you both, in whatever direction life takes you.
