Some couples are sweet. Some couples are playful. And then there are Bethany and Paul, the kind of couple that makes you believe fairytales might actually exist. Before their engagement session, I already knew a little bit about their story. Childhood friends, high school sweethearts, years spent long-distance, and a relationship that has weathered challenges that would have tested many couples. Through it all, they continued choosing each other, again and again. But what I didn’t realize until I met them was just how deeply in love they truly are.

From the moment we started shooting, it felt like stepping into a Disney movie. Bethany has this effortless princess energy about her, and Paul looks at her exactly the way every Disney prince is supposed to look at his princess. The best part is that none of it feels forced. It’s completely genuine.
One of my favorite prompts during engagement sessions is to ask couples to take turns sharing what they love about each other. Usually, there’s some laughter, some thinking, and a few moments of being put on the spot. Not Bethany and Paul. The second I asked, they immediately started listing things they loved about one another without missing a beat. There were no awkward pauses and no moments where either of them had to stop and think. I had already captured the moment before they were finished answering, and they were still going. It was one of the most genuine displays of love I’ve ever witnessed behind my camera.

What stood out most throughout the session was their playful nature. They laughed constantly, teased each other, and fully embraced every goofy moment together. At the same time, they created some of the most romantic images I’ve ever captured. Their gallery feels exactly like them: joyful, whimsical, and completely authentic.
After years of long-distance phone calls, cross-country moves, family challenges, and choosing each other every day, Bethany and Paul have built something truly special. Spending an evening with them reminded me that the best love stories aren’t perfect; they’re the ones where two people keep showing up for each other. Bethany and Paul are proof that those kinds of love stories still exist, and I feel incredibly lucky to have captured a small piece of theirs.
